There is so much ‘pressure’ to deliver the right content piece at the right time to connect with the right audience. This only increases when we consider just how many platforms we need to deliver killer content for. So, yeah, creating a killer content marketing strategy is no small feat, but it absolutely is essential for building brand awareness, engaging your audience, and driving conversions.

We believe that ‘the same old content’ doesn’t really cut it anymore and great, stand out content must be unique, informative and engaging. With this in mind here are 10 bang-on strategies to help you elevate your content marketing game.

  1. Embrace New Tech

Don’t be afraid to try new apps, products and technology. New products and tech drive new ideas and, by accident or design, it can open up a suite of new content opportunities. Think about how AI, VR, and new phone apps can enhance your content. These tools can create content and experiences that set you apart from the competition and position you as innovators in your space.

  • Leonardo.ai – If you’re interested in trying something other than Midjourney for AI art then you can’t go past Leonardo. This Australian owned image and video generation tool is huge and delivers stunning results. For our money this is also the most stable AI video platform – which is a big call!
  • Eleven Labs – These guys keep upping the game when it comes to audio creation. From amazing AI voice generation to voice cloning, language dubbing, sound effects and an upcoming music creation tool, everything Eleven Labs do is incredible. Use this for everything from podcasts to video narration to lipsyncing your AI avatar 🙂
  • Claude – The closest competitor to ChatGPT, Claude by Anthropic appears to provide more measured, considerate responses to queries. There have been more than a few detailed comparisons to the way in which each respond, and it seems that Claude comes out on top most of the time. That said, you can’t ignore the flexibility of ChatGPT or the tools that OpenAI are creating – all of which are incredible!
  • Udio – Make an AI generated song about your business, your services, your boss – anything. This is a pretty incredible / scary tool and can be a fun way to create unique content.
  1. Leverage Cultural and Pop Culture Moments

Tie your content to current events, holidays, or trending topics to make it more engaging. That doesn’t mean posting a generic photo of a rabbit at Easter or a Christmas Tree at, well, you know. Get creative and don’t be afraid to have fun. Looks for ways of connecting your business and people with the latest movies, trending music, key world events etc. People love content that feels timely and relevant. Bonus tip – don’t align your content with any political moment. Unless you’re absolutely certain it’s a bigger part of the brand.

  1. Keep It Real

Authenticity is key. Your audience is wise to stock photos, generic content and insincere messaging. Your business is unique and should embrace this! The buzz term here is User Generated Content (UGC), which can include everything from selfies to explainer videos to music to meet the team snapshots. Don’t worry about it being too polished. If it’s fun and represents who your brand is, post it! By creating content that reflects your brand’s values and voice, you will build trust and stand out from the crowd.

  1. Target Your Content Like a Pro

Quality over quantity is the name of the game. Instead of trying to be everywhere at once, focus on the channels where your audience hangs out. Create informative, entertaining content that speaks directly to them. It’s better to have a few pieces of great content than a ton of mediocre stuff. It’s also worth noting that, if your business does need an Instagram, TikTok and Linkedin page, it’s worth considering the intended audience before repurposing the same content across all three platforms. That video you made for TikTok might not go down so well with your Linkedin audience.

  1. Create a Virtual Brand Ambassador

This one is totally left of centre but a virtual brand ambassador – an AI-powered character that interacts with your audience across various platforms – is unique enough to stand out (right now at least), and relatively easy to manage. Platforms such as Synthesia and Hey Gen are leading the way in 2024, however, the AI sector is changing quickly so expect to see a lot of competitors in the next 18 months. A virtual ambassador can be trained to answer questions, provide recommendations, and even engage in witty banter with your followers. By creating a virtual personality that aligns with your brand’s values and tone, you can provide a unique experience for your audience while showcasing your brand’s innovative spirit.

  1. Implement a Website Content Refresh Strategy

This one isn’t particularly ‘out the box thinking’ but regularly reviewing and updating your website’s content to ensure it remains relevant, accurate, and engaging, is absolutely critical to long term success. Identify outdated or underperforming pages and refresh them with new information, visuals, or formatting. A website content refresh strategy can help improve and/or sustain your search engine rankings, keep your audience engaged, and ensure that your website remains a valuable resource for your target audience.

  1. Create a Branded Online Course or Workshop

Develop an online course or workshop that teaches your audience a valuable skill or provides in-depth knowledge related to your industry. Use a mix of video content, interactive exercises, and downloadable resources to create an engaging learning experience. By providing educational content, you can position your brand as a trusted resource, attract potential customers, and even generate additional revenue streams.

  1. Create a Gated Company Brochure

Develop a comprehensive, well designed company brochure that showcases your brand’s story, products, services, and unique value proposition. It’s almost your website but in ‘printable’ PDF form – perfect for giving old school executives the information they need to make a decision. Instead of making the brochure freely available on your website, implement a gated content strategy that requires users to provide their contact information (such as name and email address) in exchange for access to the brochure.

Once users have provided their info, deliver the brochure via email or a direct download link, and consider a lead nurturing strategy to further engage and convert these potential customers. By gating your company brochure, you can generate valuable leads, build your email list, and create opportunities for targeted marketing.

  1. Create a Branded Video or Podcast Series

No one likes to look at video of themselves or to hear a recording of their own voice but, if get past this fear, you can develop a engaging, informative and fun content that aligns with your brand’s messaging and values and truly separates your business from everyone else. This could be a series of how-to videos, product demonstrations, or even a fictional storyline that subtly promotes your brand. Use humour, storytelling, and appealing audio or visual elements to make your podcast or video more engaging and shareable. A consistent, authentic video series can help increase brand recognition, create a sense of connection and loyalty, and drive traffic to your website.

  1. Develop an SEO-Focused Content Marketing Strategy

Create a comprehensive content marketing strategy that focuses on creating high-quality, keyword-rich blog posts, pages, and articles that target the specific needs and interests of your potential future clients. Start by identifying the terms and phrases that your target audience is searching for when looking for solutions related to your products or services.

Once you have identified your target keywords, prioritise creating in-depth, informative content that provides real value to your readers. Use your keywords naturally throughout your content, including in headings, subheadings, and body text, to improve your search engine rankings and track the performance in Google Analytics.

Of course, some of these strategies are going to take time to plan and implement, and no doubt they will involve a fairly significant learning curve for most marketing teams. We believe this is where the opportunity lies for businesses and individuals.
