Yahava’s mission is to bring the worlds greatest coffee beans to their clients, however, their old e-commerce system was failing and preventing them from expanding online
Start Digital were engaged to design and develop a new online shop front, improve order and customer management, and create a streamlined, intuitive experience for both consumers and online store managers.
The old Yahava website was limping – badly. Built on the Prestashop platform, the site had been pushed beyond its capabilities and was causing significant issues for clients and the Yahava business team alike. Start Digital proposed a new design and approach using the WordPress and Woocommerce. The two core goals were to improve the way Yahava was presenting itself online and to create a back end structure that retained the many subscription types and simplified order management.
There were several high priority items that needed to be addressed that not only fixed the immediate issues but provided Yahava with a robust platform from which to grow their online business.
We worked closely with the Yahava team to create a look and feel that conveyed the Indiana Jones-esque adventure vibes of the brand and quickly settled on a style that connected old world aesthetics with new world digital commerce. A feat that Indy himself would be proud of.
The multiple ordering options against each subscription product together with an ordering process that split distribution and funds between the Swan Valley store and Margaret River store, meant careful planning and extensive testing was required throughout the project.
The bespoke nature of Yahava’s old website and the unique way in which they managed orders created issues with data consistency. This, together with manual system adjustments against multiple subscription types created significant database issues.
To ensure the new site performed well and delivered the right results the data needed to be cleaned and reconciled against the new WordPress platform. With over 100,000 records what started out as a straightforward data migration became an epic clean up and recovery project.
Throughout the design and development process we ensured the new site was optimised, light and rapid to load – not bad for such an image heavy, feature rich site. As with all Start Digital sites we tested everything across multiple devices and browsers and made sure the site aligned with Google’s SEO guidelines. With all boxes ticked we launched the site and handed over the keys to the Yahava admin team, making sure we’re always available to provide support when needed!
We continue to support the Yahava design team with scheduled site maintenance and ongoing tweaks to the back end.
To help create a site with the right visual brand we visited the Swan Valley store to capture what makes Yahava so unique. From product photography through to shots of the team in action we built an image library for both the website and social media campaigns.
The photography together with mockups of the core product line helped drive the site design and created a site that perfectly captures the Yahava brand.
