Threads and Mortar are a new clothing subscription service providing basic items to men that don’t like shopping. Yep, there’s a service for that. From boardies and t-shirts through to undies and muscle tee’s the T&M team have got the basics covered.
Armed with little more than a logo and a good idea, the guys from Threads and Mortar wanted a fun, tongue in cheek approach to the website that spoke to the every day bloke in an every day way. We created a simple website that quickly communicated the service – and had a little fun along the way!
The design and development process started before any of the product had arrived. We worked with the Threads and Mortar team to discover more about the clothing and how they wanted to reach and talk to the target market. We researched international subscription services to determine how other providers were talking about and marketing themselves and we found a handful of sites that aligned with the subscription model T&M were wanting to build. The main creative influence came from a dog food subscription site. Inspiration can strike anywhere!
Simplicity was key to the design and it was important to quickly communicate how the service worked. The home page establishes a short and punchy message and runs through the options whilst presenting imagery that communicates with the target demographic and reinforcing the cheeky messaging.
The online store was setup to accept both one off purchases and regular subscriptions. It was important to make sure the administration and backend order management was robust and intuitive, allowing the Threads and Mortar team to easily accept and distribute orders.
We’re calling it now – subscription services are here to stay and they’re only going to get bigger and more established. See Yahava Coffee for another example of our eCommerce subscription sites.
Matthew from T&M recently said in an interview, “We aren’t setting out to change the way the male fashion industry runs, but we do think our service will benefit a majority of the blokes who choose to shop online. We’re something different.“.
The website perfectly captures Matthews vision and gives the Threads and Mortar team a platform from which to grow and add more products. Watch this space.
