Our most recent Most Innovative Companies project was multi-staged with two launches. Start’s first project was to design and develop a landing page that encourages individuals to pre-register their organisation for this year’s competition plus to sign-up to receive tips to put their business best forward in their submission. After a month as entry opened, we launched part 2 – a full (albeit less than a dozen pages) site for the competition.

With the previous site design, Most Innovative Companies offered a more vibrant and funky feel. We approached this version with the intention to bring the site into 2020 and beyond, an encompass all that the prestigious competition does. We updated the corporate and “safe” design to one focused on innovative, style and modernism. After all, the Most Innovative Companies project connects with a number of prestigious Australian businesses including, Commonwealth Bank, Starlight Foundation, Western Power and Xero.

A site’s font and typeface can make or break a website, and so we had to find the perfect one for Most Innovative Companies. We tested a number of fonts before finding Bely Display, the trendy san serif font that’s being used for headlines alongside the consistently popular, Lato. Shifting from the vibrant mix of blue and orange, we elevated the website’s aesthetics by making yellow and black its primary colours. With the fonts and colours, it didn’t take too long for us to develop the final design – one which we think is an epitome of professionalism and trendiness.

Utilising a very strategic set of background graphics, colours, custom JavaScript animations, fonts, layout and professional images, we were able to develop a website that encompasses the essence of Most Innovative Companies. (And will for years to come.) Being a small site, our web team was able to turn this project around within 2 months.
