HelpingMinds are one of Western Australia’s leading support organisations for individuals, families and carers of people suffering with a mental illness.
The HelpingMinds team engaged Start Digital to create a website that positioned the organisation as WA’s leading health and wellbeing service specifically for carers. The site needed to also demonstrate that HelpingMinds were successfully moving forward and growing in the face of significant industry change under the NDIS.

Where funding was previously distributed to disability service providers, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a more commercial system where clients choose the providers they want. This has created a more competitive environment within the sector and has motivated service providers to think outside the box.
Start Digital liaised with the HelpingMinds Marketing Team to create a website and communication style that aligned with their brand and, importantly built trust and understanding with site visitors by showcasing the breadth of their services and the experience they have in the mental health sector.
The stunning video stories were integral to the visual style and, together with the use of scripted fonts and compelling calls to action, helped present HelpingMinds as an approachable, compassionate and very human organisation.
As with many of our clients, Start Digital have become involved in other areas of their marketing. This has involved creating a range of marketing funnels and a series of 30 second radio advertisements that have been aired across regional Western Australia throughout 2018.
The NDIS has had a significant impact on all organisations in the mental health and disability sector. The challenge to move into a more commercial space proved too hard for many care based businesses. HelpingMinds identified the changes early and started work on marketing their services to potential clients.
Since becoming a client of Start Digital in January 2017 the HelpingMinds website has seen a 1063%+ increase in new site visitors.
During that time we’ve coordinated training and workshops with various teams from within HelpingMinds and identified a clear, focused way to move their digital profile forward.

One of the biggest challenges HelpingMinds face is encouraging people to talk. The unfortunate stigma that is still attached to mental illness means that individuals and families find it difficult to talk about.
The phrase ‘Lets Talk’ is almost too simple but it’s simplicity is key to cutting through the noise and making a connection. Applying a scripted font to the phrase makes it more personal and has helped increase the click through rate from home page to contact page by over 75%.
